"Bringing books to life" is more than a tagline. It's what we do. Rolling Readers of the Midlands is a non-profit organization that encourages a love of reading among children through our read aloud program, book give-aways, and tutoring.
We focus our resources on those who need them most. The majority of those we serve are low-income and underserved youth in Title One schools, shelters, after-school programs, and child development centers.
Our History
Rolling Readers formed in the Midlands in 1997 with just a handful of volunteers serving 3 sites and about 50 children. Since then, we have grown to include 500 volunteers serving over 7,000 hours reading and tutoring to over 7,600 children in 60 sites. Last year we distributed almost 8,000 new books.
